Selecting the correct control transformer requires more than matching the primary and secondary voltage. Industrial control devices such as contactors, relays, solenoids, and motor starters may draw several times their normal operating current when first energized. The transformer must provide enough continuous capacity for the steady-state load while maintaining sufficient secondary voltage during maximum inrush conditions.
Before selecting a SolaHD control transformer, identify the available supply voltage, required control voltage, total sealed VA, total inrush VA, operating frequency, environmental conditions, mounting requirements, and any required domestic or international certifications. The transformer continuous VA rating must exceed the total sealed load, and its inrush performance must be sufficient for all control devices that may energize simultaneously.
