SolaHD Floor Mount Automation Transformers

SolaHD Floor Mount Automation Transformers provide reliable voltage transformation and electrical isolation for larger industrial automation and power distribution applications. Their non-ventilated, encapsulated construction helps protect the transformer from dust, moisture, shock and vibration in demanding operating environments.

The series includes three-phase transformers from 15 kVA through 150 kVA. Standard catalog configurations include 480 volt delta primary models with either 208Y/120 volt or 480Y/277 volt secondary outputs, providing common voltage combinations for industrial machinery, automation systems, control equipment and facility distribution.

These transformers are electrostatically shielded for quality power and use a UL Class 200°C insulation system with a 115°C temperature rise at a 40°C ambient temperature. Copper terminations and removable gland plates help simplify cable entry, installation, rewiring and future equipment relocation.

SolaHD Floor Mount Automation Transformers are designed for industrial installations where larger transformer capacity and rugged environmental protection are required. Their encapsulated, non-ventilated construction makes them suitable for applications exposed to dust, moisture, shock or vibration where a standard ventilated transformer may not provide the necessary protection.

Available Ratings and Voltage Configurations

The standard series includes three-phase ratings of 15, 30, 45, 75, 112.5 and 150 kVA. Available standard voltage configurations include:

  • 480 Volt Delta Primary to 208Y/120 Volt Secondary
  • 480 Volt Delta Primary to 480Y/277 Volt Secondary

Both standard configurations include primary voltage taps for 492, 480 and 468 volt input conditions. The required output voltage, connected load and available source voltage should be confirmed before selecting a catalog number.

Enclosure Ratings

Standard models are offered in ANSI gray painted cold-rolled steel enclosures suitable for NEMA Type 1, 2, 3R, 4 and 12 applications. NEMA 4X stainless-steel enclosure configurations are also available for installations requiring increased corrosion resistance.

The enclosure and certification must match the actual installation environment. Confirm exposure to moisture, dust, washdown, corrosive materials, ambient temperature and hazardous gases or vapors before selecting the final model.

Hazardous-Location Applications

Applicable models are cULus Listed for Class I, Division 2/Zone 2 hazardous locations with T3C or T3 temperature classifications. These ratings can make the series suitable for industrial areas where flammable gases or vapors may be present under abnormal operating conditions.

How to Select a Floor Mount Automation Transformer

Begin by confirming the available three-phase primary voltage and the required secondary voltage. Then calculate the connected-load requirement and select a transformer with a nameplate kVA rating equal to or greater than the load.

For a three-phase load, transformer capacity can be calculated using:

kVA = Volts × Amps × 1.732 ÷ 1,000
